A playthrough of JY Company's 1997 unlicensed game for the Nintendo Famicom, Tiny Toon Adventures 6.

Tiny Toon Adventures 6 is a bootleg Famicom/NES port of Konami's 1992 Game Boy game Tiny Toon Adventures: Babs' Big Break (https://youtu.be/dHvsf2Xx4tI). It was created by the Taiwan-based Hummer Team, a group well-known for games like Somari (https://youtu.be/DNRBcjhT2Wc), Aladdin (https://youtu.be/wbyVYFlgqi0), and Kart Fighter (https://youtu.be/V4_EPNQ8rUc), and it was among the last of Hummer's games to be published under the JY name.

The quality of Hummer Team's output was usually pretty decent as far as bootlegs go, and Babs' Big Break was one of their better efforts. The colorized graphics look far more professional than what you'd find in most official Game Boy-to-NES conversions, the controls and overall feel of the gameplay remain somewhat faithful to the original, and though a few areas from the Game Boy game were cut, the majority of the levels made the transition completely intact. The sound is also much better than you might expect, though that's hardly a surprise considering that it was lifted straight out of the first Tiny Toons NES game (https://youtu.be/ZQGm0gSAVSk).

The game does have a bit of jank that you wouldn't see in a legit Konami game: the scrolling creates a lot of visible garbage on the edges of the screen and the physics and timings can feel a little off (like you can see when I get killed trying to exit from a pipe in the area before Montana Max's mansion), but overall, it's pretty good. It's better than many officially licensed NES platformers, but I think that's just as much a reflection of the quality of Konami's work as it is Hummer Team's.

One funny thing about this cart is that it had two title screens which seems to imply that it was intended to be sold under two different names. The alternate title screen calls the game "Porky Pig & Daffy Duck" (the ampersand is backwards) and it displays a big portrait of Hamton Pig and Plucky Duck. I'm guessing these guys weren't too familiar with the TV show.

Tiny Toon Adventures 6 is a fun and surprisingly polished game, and if you enjoyed the Game Boy game, I think you'll enjoy this one too.
