TNT Evilution:I Dare You To Move
Ah.. TNT Evilution, The other part of Final Doom. I know people slam it for being somewhat dated and boring, that is true somewhat but it stands out in my head like Plutonia Experiment but in a few different ways and some infamous ways.
While Plutonia Experiment was more based around Earth settings, TNT goes more towards tech bases.. with some results that are bad and good.
"System Control" is a basic start level with zombie men, Imps, Sargents, Chaingunners and a single Demon, RNG really fucked me over on the berserk punch, "Human BBQ" or Human Barbecue is a mess if you aren't careful, There's not much health and the amount of hit scanners makes it hard to survive, Clutched heavily on this level, "Power Control" is insane even if you have ammo from a previous level, There are many hitscanners and very mean traps set up in this level, Supershotgun makes it better but it's still mean.
"Wormhole" is similar, Open areas with hitscanners and not much cover, Rocket launcher trap is downright cruel, Didn't bother with wormholes darker side of the map, "Hanger" is not that bad if you are careful, The monster closet start use to give me chills, Plently of ammo and health makes it better then the first four maps, "Open Season" is where TNT Evilution becomes more cruel, The opening has a large amount of chaingunners and the labs have many ambush spots, Really almost fucked myself with the last key....And then we enter "Prison", Perhaps what might be the hardest start of TNT Evilution and its first bad level, Prison is one of the most difficult levels to pistol start and having a plasma gun doesn't really help that much.. I didn't bother with the cells area and ran for the red door.
"Metal"...Oh boy... This map made me MAD so much back in the day as it was insanely hard, I don't think it's that bad now but Metal is still a serrated blade if you do not use caution, There are hitscanners EVERYWHERE, Some monster closets in this map are the worst...final room is a bitch unless you use the partial invisibility, Its also one of the worst mapping gaps ever... TNT Evilution has a serious issue with massive maps that have very little detail.
"Stronghold"....Oh boy again, Now we are biting the bullet, With over 300 hitscanner enemies, Stronghold is the 3rd most infamous level in TNT Evilution, There is NO WAY to avoid taking damage without using extreme caution and it just wasn't happening for me, The huge amount of enemies does give you a lot of bullets and shells but it's tough, There's not much health and I can see what Decino meant, No damn person could ever beat this level of pacifist unless its TAS.
"Redemption" is eh..Not bad? it's a small tech base which has some very mean traps and spawn ambushes, Its smaller then previous maps and isn't too good with ammo but more health makes it better then any of the first 5 levels, Finally for part 1's wrap up is "Storage Facility" a large 2 story warehouse crawling with enemies.. It's not that bad but there are some annoying parts, If the Archvile dies from the rocket launcher secret it leaves a mega sphere unreachable, Crate maze is fine and the rash amount of enemies makes it hard.
