Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero - Tire Comparison
16I did something like this for Gran Turismo 3 in 2018 and figured I'd do this for TXR Zero as well to give me something else to do. There's 10 sets of tires on here counting the stock ones. As you'd imagine the higher the level of tires, the more expensive they are & the better they grip. Our goal is to see how much better each set of tires is than the ones before them so we'll be testing them all in order from normal tires to the best of the best, level 9. Not only do better tires allow you to drive harder in the turns but they make for less wheelspin off the line which in this case is important as like in my GT3 video we'll be doing all of these tests on an oval as the game has a 3.8 mile oval test track. But unlike in GT3 each test starts from a standstill so minimal wheelspin is a must to get up to speed quickly.
This is one of the reason's I used Speed King's R34 Skyline as our test car. Since it has 4WD and plenty of weight to keep it grounded so takeoff is smooth and it won't slip out from under me in the turns as most other cars on here handle like bars of soap. Custom settings were used like in the GT3 video but were never changed between tests. I like my settings exactly as they are anyway. Over the course of the video the car could handle higher & higher speeds in the turns as switched to better & better tires and gradually climbed from about 180 to 220 MPH in the turns which made a near 5 second difference which in a battle would mean everything as a good amount of races on here last about as long as it would take to do a lap around the track in this car. Tires should always be one of the first upgrades you add to your first car.
