As many of you know, one of the things that I most appreciate about board games is the ability to play, replay, and on and on. Some games do this very simply, such as having deep-seeded but simple strategy. Others have a large number of mechanics/pieces/etc. put together into a cohesive game. One of my favorite means of replayability, though, is through the use of asymmetry in a game, which allows one game to feel like multiple.

In this video I talk about my 5 favorite games that take asymmetry to a wondrous level - feeling like 2 or more gameplay experiences in one unit. Most of these are 1v1 games with distinctive sides, but not all of them.

What are your favorite asymmetric games? Do you enjoy games that do this, or are you more of a purist, preferring a "level playing field"? Let me know in the comments!
