Black Ops 3 is the best Zombies experience to date, but it’s by no means flawless. Here’s five things it did wrong.
#5: Black Ops 3 replaced the eternally underrated Claymores and Bouncing Betties with Trips Mines, which are useless in every conceivable way.
#4: The Ray Gun had become less and less powerful with every new game, and Black Ops 3 was its low point. It can take you to round 30 just fine, but so can almost every other weapon. Explosive weapons in general didn’t have a place in this game.
#3: With the exception of the Revelations wall run, Black Ops 3 doesn’t give players a way to get more than four perks at a time. It removes depth and replaces it with monetized consumables, which we’ll talk about later.
#2: Black Ops 3 was the first Treyarch Zombies game to launch with one map since World at War. While that on-disc map happens to be my favorite map of all time, it gives the game less variety than previous games and ensures you have to spend money to get the best experience.
#1: Speaking of spending money, the biggest problem with Black Ops 3 are the monetized Gobblegums. The Mega Gobblegums not only took away features that would otherwise be in the map, but gave players that spent an excessive amount of money on microtransactions a blatant advantage over those who didn’t.
