Voyage of Despair was our introduction to a new storyline for Zombies. Here’s five things it did wrong.
#5: Voyage is not a great introduction to the Chaos storyline. We don’t know much about our new characters, their goals, or the world around them, and we don’t have reasons to care about them either.
#4: While the Blightfathers are a well designed boss, I don’t think they’re thematically appropriate for this map. They don’t fit the visuals of the map, and the Stokers already fill the role of a mid-round boss well.
#3: Voyage has a bizarre Easter Egg. None of the steps make use of the location, and many seem designed with the intent of being difficult to solve above all else.
#2: Voyage has a forgettable wonder weapon. While the Kraken isn’t a bad wonder weapon, it didn’t become ironic like other great wonder weapons.
#1: While I applaud Treyarch’s attention to detail on the map design, it creates a ton of issues for the map. Most areas aren’t large enough to be survivable, finding your way around the map can be difficult, and finding parts around the map amounts to holding X on everything if you don’t have a guide.
