Zetsubou no Shima is a classic, but it’s often overlooked. Here’s five things it did wrong.
#5: While the Plant system was extremely deep and could be extremely rewarding, it’s a lot to ask of players for casual games. Most players won’t get the full benefit of the plants.
#4: Zetsubou doesn’t have great map travel. Like Moon, the map is extremely linear with no fast-travel options to get from the outside of the island to the inside quickly or vice versa.
#3: The upgrade process for the KT-4 is a bit much. None of the steps are terrible in and of themselves, but when the combined effort of all of the steps gives you a wonder weapon that’s just above average at best, it’s hard to say it’s worth your time when the Skull of Nan Sapwe can be acquired so easily.
#2: Zetsubou was busted at launch. Glitches and crashes were as common as your typical Bethesda game, which turned a lot of people off of the map immediately.
#1: Zetsubou’s best training and camping strategy are only accessible after completing the Easter Egg. While you can play casually without these areas, it’s annoying that setting up for a great run on this map requires doing the entire Easter Egg.
