[Touhou LostWord] Suika Showcase - Maximum Stat and some chit-chats about Technician archetype
To clarify, my story cards ain't optimal for now, but that set up should do most of the trick. Shion is in the team to sniff EXP; she doesn’t contribute anything to Suika.
Disclaimer: This is my personal break-down on characters based on information gathered from other players (especially an acquaintance with the name Yomui, and Gamepress for raw data) and my own experience. This is not a strict guide, and should be taken as yet another insight and suggestion.
Before actually talking about the Oni in the room, it’s better to have a small discussion about the archetype “Technician”. For starters, Technician is an archetype in LostWord, denoted by the imagery of a Tiger, and each unit of this archetype either fulfils their own unique role (specialist) or just has too many roles implemented in (generalist). Both Specialist and Generalist are my own terms on the matter, and should not be taken as official characterisations of this archetype.
The specialist subtype has Patchouli, who is seen as a be-all end-all in the elemental barrier breaking department with the only notable absence in Star, along with Medicine, who is the be-all end-all toxicologist and is arguably the best barrier breaker in LostWord right now thanks to her absurd poison anomaly break. Kaguya can be seen as a tanky set-up fighter, with her back-loaded Last Word and the ability to gain Power from her other spell cards, helping her build up the power needed for her devastating final attack, and Kasen, who requires the usage of her other spell cards to muster up the power, buff and boost needed for her Last Word. Generally speaking, they are built toward a specific and unorthodox playstyle compared to the rest of the cast.
The generalist subtype contains Doremy and Remilia, who have the role of an attacker and debuffer, together with Alice, who has the role of a supporter, a stealthy unit like Luna, and a debuffer, and finally, the Oni of the room, Suika, who is an attacker with defender-like, debuffer-like and supporter-like traits. Specifically speaking, they have many roles built in, but they don't actually excel at each role; they must use their specific attack, spell, skill or even Last Word just to use one single function of theirs.
Now that we get that out of the way, let’s talk about Suika herself. As I mentioned earlier, she is a Generalist Technician, and her strength lies in her flexibility and her raw power. Her main function is similar to an attacker; her damage output is respectable, but she also has other tricks up her sleeves… Wait, what do you mean by she’s wearing a sleeveless shirt? Let me take a… oh… yeah… I guess… Well, anyway, she has other tricks hidden in her gourd. To begin, she has a relatively high health pool, a skill that boosts her evasion stat, a spell card that boosts her defensive stats, certain attacks with defence scaling, and the ability to recover barriers, both passively and actively; the usual trait of a defender. She also has a spell that boosts accuracy to her party, so she can at least support her allies in a fight. Moreover, her most dangerous tool in her kits is actually the debuffs that come with her Last Word; a 2-level down on both Yin and Yang Defence. Not to mention the fact that her 0P spread shot is Fire, so she can help breaking metal-based opponents. To conclude, while Suika doesn't excel at any specific department, her respectable damage and her flexibility are actually helpful in many cases. The only foreseeable downside of her kit is the fact that a portion of her functions is tied with spell cards and Last Word, thus limiting their uses in a long drawn-out battle like the Tower, for example.
For story cards, I equipped the first slot with max limit broken Midnight Tea, but this is one of the rare cases that I suggest equipping max limit broken Witch of Scarlet Dream as she can’t reliably gain enough Power for a first turn 3P. For the 2nd and 4th slot, Yin boost like Overwhelming Firepower, Boo or A Curious Festival. For the 3rd slot, an accuracy boost.
The Last Word slot must be equipped with Mysterious Sword Saint if possible, for it increases Accuracy and boosts slash bullets, which are the composition of Suika’s Last Word. But in cases that you possess no such card, Overwhelming Firepower or Valued Tool of the Trade can be substituted, but the power drop can be noticeable.
