Wait. It's all about Disillusion?

Disclaimer: This is my personal break-down on characters based on information gathered from other players (especially an acquaintance with the name Yomui, and Gamepress for raw data) and my own experience. This is not a strict guide, and should be taken as yet another insight and suggestion.

In this video, you will find my current story card setup for Shion, albeit a questionable one at best, 2 fights against Meiling in Chapter 2 Act 2, and a 3-3-3 run with Tewi as her partner. The discussion for why I chose such cards is at the end of the description.

Shion is a debuffer, meaning she excels at disorienting the opponents to create advantages for your team to exploit. She has debuffs for many aspects, including, but not limited to, accuracy, evasion, yin defence and yang defence, with the latter 2 are the reason why she’s highly regarded; having yin/yang DEF level down on the enemy is like having yin/yang ATK level up on your team, and they stack, thus allowing your team to deal a trainwreck of damage right onto the unfortunate bastards who are in the way if you are aiming for a DPS (damage per screenshot) check. Not to mention, all of her skills debuff every target on screen instead of just one like Tewi, although she is hampered by her own Single Target Last Word, limiting her usefulness somewhat. I have to admit that it took my entire morning just to find a stage to showcase her ability just because of that single target last word limitation. Also, while Shion’s a debuffer aka a support character, her damage output is respectable at the very least, although you should be wary that she’s solely a yin attacker; her yang debuff from her 1st spell won’t give her any advantages although the power boost offsets that fact somewhat as it makes her less reliant on Power boosting story cards compared to other friends. Not that she desperately needs it anyhow, as her attacks are mostly front-loaded so she can deal exceptional damage with little Power requirement. Being a poverty god, she’s good at making more out of less, hah.

Let’s move on to story cards. If you have watched my 3-3-3 test, I changed certain cards in her equipment for more reliability in that composition, although some test runs show that it does not change the outcome by much and the chance of failing is miniscule. As a general rule, you want to give her Yin Attack up on every single card; her power boost from her first and third spell mitigates the need for a power boosting story card, or at the very least, the need for Witch of Scarlet Dream. You can use Midnight Tea with no limit break and still be able to get away with it. You can also use Fire and Energy boosting cards as her attacks are mostly fire energy: Mini-hakkero, Heavenly Backdoor Dancers (to a lesser extend) and Where the Wind Priestess Is are good substitutes especially when you are short on max limit broken Boo, A Curious Festival or Overwhelming Firepower. Or bring the try and true Accuracy booster like Froggy Hat, Valued Tool of the Trade, Poltergeist Sisters’ Concert, or even Mysterious Sword Master if you have some to spare. Mysterious Sword Master can be a decent choice as it boosts her accuracy while giving her some Yin attack.

in conclusion, Shion is a solid character. While her usefulness is somewhat limited by her own Last Word, her debuffing assets will save you in many cases in end game contents by turning a close fight into a win if used correctly. Also, because of it, she excels at supporting other characters in certain card-farming battles, including 3-3-3 and 3-6-3.
