12This is technically my second HO scale ES44AC. Although this is the Tower 55 version that is equipped with Digitrax DCC sound that will also work in analogue mode as well as DCC. Tower 55 Models is a the resin model locomotive brand that is owned by Ajin Precision Models along with Overland Models Inc as OMI make brass models in various scales. This model is very nice for detail and I like how smooth the model runs as well as the sounds. Also these Tower 55 Models are made in South Korea rather than China where the majority of my US model trains are produced (except for Kato which are Japanese made). I have nothing against model trains being made in China but I like to have variety in my fleet as it is nice to have some variation in the fleet. But for performance, the Tower 55 version doesn't lag on DC mode unlike the Intermountain version that I bought in 2011 but they are both on an even platform for detail as I like both models. The test run was good as the model was smooth running at all speeds although the lights are disabled in DC mode and I will need to alter this when I get my new DCC controller. In my opinion, this is a very well made model locomotive and I would certainly recommend the Tower 55 Model as it boasts plenty of detail and the DCC sound does sound quite rich in quality as well.
