As you know, I have been doing some tweaks to my OO gauge Hornby Locomotives and also some rolling stock as well. As you will see if you own any of the Hornby models that have sprung buffers, they are just bare metal with no paint applied. Well I have decided to paint the buffers on my Hornby models to make appear more realistic and I would recommend using enamel type paint as the finish will look much better and is less likely to scratch off compared with the water-based acrylic paints. I have done a comparison of a before and after using two Hornby Class 60's as I am sure you may agree that painted buffers makes the model look more realistic on a layout.
