Train Simulator 2019 - Woodhead in Blue - Class 506 to Hadfield
In this video we are on the Woodhead Electric Railway in Blue route, or - as I like to call it - Blue Woodhead. This route depicts the famous Woodhead Line - from Manchester to Sheffield via Woodhead - as it was in the final years before it closed in 1981.
This time I am at the controls of a Class 506 electric multiple unit. We start at Manchester Piccadilly and finish at Hadfield, stopping at the following stations on the way:
Ashburys
Guide Bridge
Newton
Godley
Hattersley
Broadbottom (don't snigger)
Dinting
Glossop
Hadfield
Glossop is actually a terminus station, where we have to stop and change ends before proceeding to Hadfield.
Today this service is operated by Class 323's, and is the only surviving part of the old Woodhead Line, which closed in July 1981. The 506's first entered service in 1954, being retired 30 years later. Between 1984 and around 1993, the Manchester to Hadfield services were operated by Class 304, 305 and 308 units.
