Tropico 6 | AMD Ryzen 5 5600U (Vega 7) | HD 720p
Tropico 6 is a recent addition to the series. Game not only gives us new tools to build and manage our remote island but also gives us new graphics, physics and bigger maps.
How does all that play on a laptop with a low-power CPU and integrated graphics? Let's find out.
Released in 2019 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Tropico 6 uses Unreal Engine 4 to power its graphics also every citizen is simulated individually which uses more CPU than the last game in the series.
In 720p resolution and medium details game can produce 30+ fps. Integrated GPU is maxed all the time and CPU sits somewhere around 20% the majority of the time but its clock speed is rather very low (power consumption also went down from 25W to 15+W). Remember this is a Hexa-core CPU so using dual-core or quad-core CPU will affect performance a bit.
The game looks very nice. The graphics can deliver more details and make the game look better overall.
Some will probably ask why just 30 fps? For simulation games like this one, it is the sweet spot between comfortable gameplay and nice visuals.
Even when zoomed in or out Ryzen 5 5600U can still deliver steady performance. RAM usage is ok nothing very demanding in modern gaming.
8 GB of RAM is enough to play but 16 GB would be preferred to keep it smooth. Dual-channel 3200MHz RAM also allows Ryzen APU to perform in optimal conditions which directly translates to better performance overall.
The audio was clear and sharp and for this game in particular it is an aspect that matters.
