Trying AVGN's most hated game for the first time! (Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, NES)
AVGN review: • Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Revisited (NE...
Anybody who watched Angry Video Game Nerd would immediately know what this infamous game is. If you haven't, well, this is the 1988 NES video game adaption of the famous Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde 1886 novel. It is a platformer game. It's hard to explain this game, as it is actually one of the worst titles in the NES library, but the objective is to get Dr.Jekyll to his forthcoming wedding, but many dangerously cheap obstacles come his way to make him angry (which you have to avoid) and become the hideous Mr.Hyde, which strangely brings him into an alternate demonic world going backwards. Then, kill the enemies as fast as you can to return back to Jekyll before he reaches the exact location where Hyde's counterpart was. Otherwise, a lightning bolt will suddenly strike him and die instantly. If Jekyll dies, of course it is also Game Over.
It's a bad game, for sure. Surprisingly, however, it is playable, but it is not for people who are not very patient. I cannot beat this cheaply difficult game, but for a 1st try, I think I did quite well compared to most others who tried, thanks to my pro experience in gaming. It's worth the video.
Fun fact: Marvel's The Incredible Hulk was inspired by the original Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, alongside Frankenstein.
