Disabling autofill passwords on your iPhone can enhance privacy and give you more control over how your credentials are used. While autofill is a convenient feature that automatically inputs stored usernames and passwords into websites and apps, some users prefer to turn it off for added security or when switching to a third-party password manager. Apple's built-in autofill service is integrated within iCloud Keychain and can be adjusted in a few steps via the Settings app.

To begin, open the Settings app on your iPhone. From there, scroll and tap on "Passwords" which is where your iCloud Keychain credentials and security settings are located. You may be asked to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.

Once inside the Passwords menu, look for the "Password Options" or "Autofill Passwords" section. Tap it to view the list of available services that support autofill, such as iCloud Keychain or any third-party apps like 1Password or LastPass. At the top of this section, you'll see a toggle labeled "Autofill Passwords and Passkeys." Turn this switch off to completely disable password autofill across Safari and all other apps on your iPhone.

When autofill is disabled, you’ll no longer see saved credentials suggested during login prompts. You can still manually copy and paste stored passwords from the Passwords section, but they won’t appear automatically anymore.

This is especially useful if you're troubleshooting login errors, prefer to enter credentials manually, or want to rely on external password managers for improved control. If you ever want to turn the feature back on, simply return to the same menu and re-enable the toggle.
