Do all games have to be serious? Too bad, because Tax Evasion is a crime and is terribly serious. And so it tearing up love letters. And so is stabbing a snail with a sword made of soil. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion is a game that is all about tackling the issues: except that you're just as much part of the issues. If one thing surprised me, it's that the titular crime has very little to do with the rest of the game -- it's just more of a means to an end to getting you kicked off exploring a wacky but beautifully drawn world. It's short. It's not for everyone. But by default, it's now officially the 2021 Game of the Year. Don't blame me, I don't make the rules.
