The Stand
Keeping in line with the All Access news, CBS has just announced they have ordered a 10 episode run of the reboot/re-adaptation. Josh Boone (Fault In Our Stars) and Ben Cavell (SEAL Team) will be overseeing the series. The pair co-wrote this long-form adaptation of the novel, and Boone will direct.

Crisis on Infinite Earths
The Arrowverse is teasing “Big Swings” with their next major crossover event. Speaking at the Television Critics Association, CW president Mark Pedowitz stated the upcoming Crisis On Infinite Earths is going to be the biggest and most complicated crossover yet. Also, kind of implying their version of the multiverse will get smaller somehow as a result.

Supernatural S14E11
Dean is on his farewell tour, as Sam puts it so eloquently. The reference to the failed Wayward Sisters felt a little shoehorned in, but kind of to be expected since the showrunners are still grumpy about that series not getting picked up by the network. It always amazes me that the Winchester brothers are such darlings among the nerdy millennial crowd, because Dean is kind of walking talking “toxic masculinity.” The general direction for this episode is par for the course, nothing exceptional. I will never understand some of the handheld camera choices they make in this show. This does push not just the general mythology of the series but the story for the season. It’s episodes like this that keep the fans guessing, because it really feels like they are painting themselves into a corner with the Michael bits.
It also feels like the Michael stuff keeps this from being a satisfying episode on its own right. The climax resolves in seconds, and all of the Nick stuff feels a little forced. They do try to give the episode a little bit of stakes in this area, but we know he isn’t going to kill Mary Winchester OR Sheriff Donna.
There is a fair amount of Mary Winchester mythology expansion here too, and that always is good. Turns out Mary knew Nick (Lucifer’s one time host) before her death at the hands of the Yellow Eyed Demon. Probably should have saw that coming since they like to tie things up with a coincidental bow like that now that Mary is alive again.
