Hey guys Toyhouze here where we talk about how to Get Great at Gaming and Wrath of the Lich King Classic has been officially announced and with that we have MASSIVE CHANGES.

I made a video a few days ago literally anticipating some form of changes coming to wrath classic, but I do not think ANYONE could have foreseen these changes:

First off -

NO DUNGEON FINDER in Wrath of the Lich King Classic!! LFD is gone! This is a whopping MEGA-CHANGE to the game, because we all assumed the game would be released using patch 3.3.5 – the final patch and with that, including dungeon finder! This was a major change brought in Wrath that changed how players interacted with each other, geared up, and got to dungeons. There were also bonuses specific to doing a random dungeon through the tool – 2 extra Emblems of Triumph at max level or a satchel of helpful goods if not max, which awarded a really nice blue item for your level. These Emblems of Triumph at max level unlocked a lot of epic gear including Tier 9!! Spamming level 80 dungeons is also how you farm reputation in Wrath, so the grind is going to be real with having to keep whispering players to get groups together to max out those reputations. Without the dungeon finder we’re going to see a very different wrath of the lich king than we see on private servers if this change makes it through to launch.

I believe the majority of people want the dungeon finder, myself included- I was specifically looking forward to leveling some alts with it - but I want to talk through some of the pros and CONS of NOT having the dungeon finder, because it hasn’t been mentioned yet.

First, the Pros of the removal of dungeon finder:

First off you are more likely to not grief since you’re playing on your server and it’s not cross-server. You can’t just disappear into the void and never be seen again after the run goes sour or your group wipes once and the wrath baby in your group leaves. It’s also really cool to see the same people in your groups. I don’t know about your server, but when I was playing TBC classic running dungeons and heroics, I definitely ran into some familiar faces multiple times, and it was cool to feel that sense of community.

This is going to be a version of wrath that is authentic. Wrath didn’t add dungeon finder until patch 3.3.0, a little over a year after the game was released. So if Blizzard decided to add it back in at some point, that would be authentic to the experience. And having to actually go to instance entrances while on patch 3.3.5a is going to be a dynamic never before seen – because by that patch LFD was added, so it’s a never-before-seen experience if you want to look at it that way.
Now, the CONS of LFD going away, as I see it.

With LFD you can end up doing dungeons you’d never do otherwise – Graveyard – Razor Fen Downs – Imagine how many people don’t even know the level range for those dungeons who’d queue up for Random Dungeon Finder and be like OH WOW Razor Fen Downs! I haven’t been here in years! I bet the majority of you, and myself included, don’t know the level ranges of all dungeons in wrath, and therefore either outlevel dungeons you may have wanted to do, or just forgot about. And with Random Dungeon Finder, you’re much more likely to see content you would otherwise not be able to see.

An obvious con of not having LFD is that it’s less convenient and a lot of players are looking forward to using this tool instead of spamming looking for group or trade chat trying to put together a group. Not everyone has the bulleting board addon to filter through the spam in chat. And if you’re trying to spam dungeons then it’s really no fun to constantly whisper players, and often time that same group leader is getting other whispers, and yours is completely ignored. Although they did mention perhaps improving the current looking for group tool to better enable groups to form. In a recent interview April 19 – Brian Birmingham said that they really do not expect to add it, they really don’t like the teleporting instantly to the instance, and the auto-creation of groups being put together - even though conversations are ongoing on if the tool will be in the game. But it sounds like at this point, it’s really not going to be in the game. As much as I want it, I’m looking forward to seeing what Wrath is like without it, and maybe it will be added in at a later phase for us all to enjoy.
