Union of Gnomes Prologue is a demo for the title that came out on May 23, 2024. It is being developed by Hoolignomes and published by HeroCraft PC. You can grab the demo on Steam at: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2960560/Union_of_Gnomes_Prologue/

This game is a deckbuilder Roguelite. You use cards to perform attacks and actions like healing, or poisoning enemies. As you play, you level up your main hero, and can allocate points into their stats to raise things like attack damage and health. You also unlock new Gnomes to use in future runs that really alters how battles play out.

For this session, I didn't change anything really for my Gnome lineup. I wanted to get use to the game a bit more before jumping into the barracks and start messing with it. If played correctly, the starters are pretty decent! Mana Lad is super useful, as it gives you mana AND heals you if you have armor. These are great to level up, as level 2 gives you back 2 mana per use, which definitely helps with combat.

I didn't notice it at first, but the enemies telegraph their next move over their heads in battles. If you see a sword with a number, that means they are going to hit you for that amount. If you see a shield with a number, they are going to armor up themselves for that amount. Make sure to pay attention to this! This can save your run!

There are different things to do on each map. There are normal battles, hard battles, and bosses for encounters. There are also spots that allow you to rest and level up Gnomes, or take on a quest. Pay attention to the path you choose, and try to make sure to mix up battles and events to stay up on health and coin.

I had a good time playing it! Deckbuilder Rogues usually aren't the type of Rogues I play, but it looked interesting, and I figured I would give it a shot. I think the last one I played was Slay the Spire, and that was a while ago. I may just get this game when it is fully released! If you think it looks up your alley, i would say to give it a try. The Demo is free!
