In the Garden, developers of the space ship racing game Lightfield, share a few thoughts on and lessons learned from building the many tools and helpers that optimized and organized their development workflow. The tools cover everything from a fully custom Maya-Unity importer/exporter pipeline that allowed quicker iteration, a build pipeline allowing the creation of differently customized builds at once, a custom static batching solution, and a lot of smaller editor scripts to speed up the work and to find inconsistencies in the scene.
