Unreal Tournament 1999 with Bob
3You know it, you love it. The original Unreal Tournament from 1999. For those of us who were gamers back then, UT was the beginning of a whole new era of shooters. Installing UT for the first time back in 1999, you felt like you had the world in your pocket and that you were the most awesome person ever. That's how cool it was. Surreptitious LAN parties in corporate offices after dark, smack-talking your buddies as you flak-cannoned them into tiny meaty bits, bringing home the flag... memories.
UT 1999 will run on Windows 8, the problem being that it runs incredibly fast on my machine. Too fast to actually play. There are settings to slow it down (that's one hell of foresight, guys - hats off to Epic Games and Digital Extremes for thinking that one through), but I found that the best way to slow the game down to playable levels is... to run Fraps. ;) It's like they made it for Youtube. ;)
In addition to UT1999, on it I am running my favorite UT mod of all times, Strangelove. The Redeemer cruise missile becomes a rideable missile, enabling all sorts of hijinks. Enjoy.
Oh, and they are making a new Unreal Tournament and it is going to be FREE. Free as in, totally completely free.
