Unreal Tournament 4 - i5 4690K & GTX 770 - Performance testing
Greetings, everyone.
Today we’re here with another short performance / FPS testing video, in this case for the game Unreal Tournament 4, or simply Unreal Tournament…or the new UT based on the Unreal Engine 4, from Epic Games. Whatever you want to call it, it’s still Unreal Tournament, and it’s awesome : )
Of course, the game is still in early stages of development and testing, and as you may know It’s going to be free to play, with optional marketplace stuff you can purchase if you want, mostly cosmetic skins or maps that the community will develop using the free tools available for said purpose.
If you want to check the game out yourself, just visit www.unrealtournament.com, register and downdload the current alpha version there.
Now onto our little test, we can see in the first part of the video that I run around the Outpost23 map checking what kind of FPS I get and all that, this will serve to get an average idea of the performance when nothing else is bothering us. As you can see in the video, my settings were 1080p for the resolution, everything on High except post processing, which I don’t like much, and of course no VSYNC and no FPS cap.
Moving on to the second part of the video, we load some BOTs to try and stress our CPU a bit more, and as we can see it kind of does it to some extent, but well not too much of a difference. Anyway, it may be a similar scenario to playing a real game vs. other players and we have to keep in mind that BOTs would probably stress our system a bit more since the CPU still has to use some of its power to process the AI data those BOTs are producing.
Nonetheless, we can see pretty decent results on the BOT testing phase of this video and our FPS don’t go too low at any moment at all, and our system is able to maintain way more than 60 FPS at any given time, usually 80-90+ on average. Still, having those BOTs on our game has some impact on our system especially our CPU, as expected.
And talking about the system, here are its specs:
-CPU: i5 4690K@3.5 stock (3.9 Turbo).
-Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger.
-GPU: Asus GTX 770 DirectCU II OC 2 GB with no extra OC.
-RAM: 8 GB DDR3@1866, 9-10-9-28.
-Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB where both game and O.S. are installed.
-O.S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit with latest updates.
And that’s pretty much it for this performance / FPS analysis for the Unreal Tournament alpha, hope you enjoyed it and see you on the next video.
