Update: LAPI The Battle of Olympus - Time to Start Recording!
Thanks everyone for the overwelming positive response to the initial idea and for everyone who wants to help me put this project together!
In the past few weeks I've planned a route through the entire game, ensuring a 100% run that's efficient and shows all (I think) NPC's in the game and nearly all the lines of dialogue it contains. I've recorded the playthrough, verified all lines to be used, sorted them all and divided most of them up amongst the participants. So now it's time to send out those lines and get recording! Exciting!
There are still some open spots for some female voices, so if you'd like to fill one, let me know. All the male roles have been filled, however, you're always free to still sign up as some people might drop out, in which case some reserves are always handy.
If you're to voice some lines, I'll send you a message somewhere this week. This may take some time, as there's quite a lot of people to get into contact with! In the message you'll find the lines to record for the characters you are to voice. You'll also see which lines are required for which video. This may help you prioritize your recordings.
I've stated this in the first video and not in this one, but please, by all means, feel free the bring the characters to life in any way you see fit. You choose the accents, the tempo, the special quirks and everything about your characters. It will be interesting to see how everyone handles their parts differently, especially the gods ;).
I stress that there is no pressure, nor a strict time limit, to record your lines in. Just see what you can do. We'll see how quickly we can get this done, but there is no need to rush. As lines get delivered, I might call upon some 'stragglers' to see how they fare, but I have no clear time indication as of yet. Don't worry though, most likely you'll have your recordings done in no time anyway, as most parts are REALLY small, which was one of the things I was specifically looking for in this first project.
I'm also not too concerned with quality. In the video I give some basic tips that I think work well, but by no means do you need to follow them. See what works best for you and what you want to put into the project. As I state in the video, it's a shared learning experience :).
I prefer to get the files in either WAV or, even better, high quality MP3 (bit rate: 256 kbps). Other audio formats should be okay too, though if possible, don't make them too obscure ;). For a sampling rate I recommend 48kHz. If you can't find the quality options, don't worry, usually they are decent enough by default.
Completed files you can send directly to me via e-mail: HalfBlindGamer@gmail.com. You can also upload them to to (cloud) storage solution and send me the. Alternatively, you can upload it to my Box account if you prefer. Finally, even though this will take away some quality, you can upload the audio in a video file to YouTube as an unlisted video and give me the link.
Well, I wish you all luck and I hope to be talking to you all soon and getting to hear all your voices as NPC's in the game! Thank you very much once again for the amazing support you've all been showing!
