About this video: Windows 10 is one of the most popular operating systems of all time. With that being said though, what are the best ways to optimize Windows 10 for gaming?

The first windows 10 gaming optimization that we can do is turn on game mode. Open up your Windows Settings, Select Gaming, and click ‘Game Mode’. Turn this on. You may also want to turn off the Xbox Game Bar as that is just another thing running in the background on your system.

The next windows optimization we’re going to do is edit our power plan. If you are on a desktop, there is no reason that you shouldn’t max out your power settings. With a laptop though, we want the best results possible, especially when we are gaming.

Do this by going to settings and searching for ‘Power & Sleep’. Then, select additional power settings. Here, select ‘High performance. This will use more battery on a laptop but will give you the best results.

You can also change plan settings, and click ‘Change advance power settings’ to fine-tune things. Lastly, if you have an Intel or AMD specific power profile, give that a shot as it may give you the best results.

Next, let’s look at our graphics settings. Simply search graphics settings in the Start Menu, and open it up. Here, you want to turn on Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling and Variable refresh rate if you have it.

I don’t, so all I can do is set app preferences. For example, I can add Cities Skylines here by selecting ‘Desktop app’ and clicking browse. From there, I can select the .exe of the game. Then, click options in the menu and choose High Performance and save. This can be done for any games or programs on your computer.

Another quick Windows performance boost that you can get is disabling Background Apps. Search background apps and simply turn these all off. You can change them one-by-one, but all off will give you the best performance.

The last big Windows 10 gaming optimization were are going to change can be found by searching ‘View Advanced System Settings’ in the start menu.

From there, click the Settings… button under performance. Here, select ‘Adjust for best performance’. You can also set these one by one. The options are really up to you.

Now, let’s go through some quick things that MIGHT increase your performance, but will give you less benefit than everything else we mentioned.

First open Focus Assist and turn off notifications,. Then, search for Mouse Settings, select Additional Mouse Settings, and turn Enhance Pointer Precision to Off.

Another quick tip is to remove any programs and apps you no longer use from your system, and deleting the files you from your recycle bin and downloads folder.

With that though, there are all of the settings we recommend changing to get more performance when gaming on Windows. If we did help you optimize your PC for gaming, please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe. Thanks in advance!
