About this video: Playing Minecraft with your friends doesn’t have to be difficult, and with this video, were are going to give you the easiest ways to play Minecraft with your friends while also still having control over where you are playing and the customizations you can make to it.
First things first, I am going to make a few assumptions here. I’m guessing that you don’t live with all of the friends you want to play with. If that’s the case, just play on a LAN server because it’s really easy and just takes a few clicks to setup. I just did it.
However, if you are like most of us, you will need to connect over the internet to play Minecraft with someone else.
Now, sure Mojang does have its own option with Minecraft Realms, while that is a super simple way to play with friends, it also lacks the ability to customize your world with mods and plugins not to mention it’s player limit.
With that being said, creating a Minecraft server on your computer can be a bit difficult. I personally believe that this is a great option for most people, though. It is completely free, and you have complete control over your server.
There are two more ways to play Minecraft with your friends, though.
The first is using the Essential mod. If you and your friends both install this mod, you will be able to add them and invite them to your single-player worlds.
There is a complete guide on this mod in the description below, but just know that it is as easy as adding your friend, going in game, and inviting them.
Be sure to only use the Essential mod for people you trust though as it does expose your IP address meaning that anyone that joins meaning they can DDOS you and find out where you live using it.
Other downsides to the Essential mod are that it does require you to have a decent computer and internet connection as your computer and internet is hosting the world. Customization is limited with the Essential Mod. You can’t install other mods or plugins.
What if you don't have a decent PC or internet connection or want to install mods and plugins?
Well, that’s where hosting your server on a third party host comes in. Our top pick and the one we recommend because of it is Apex Minecraft Hosting.
