Using the Vanish/Doom Bug on Ultros in Final Fantasy VI (SNES Classic)
768During my latest Final Fantasy VI live stream, I used the infamous Vanish/Doom glitch on Ultros to almost instantly win the battle.
The Vanish Doom trick can essentially win any battle - even against bosses and big monsters - instantly. First, cast the VANISH spell on your target. While they are VANISHed, cast DOOM on them. Since VANISHed targets dodge all physical attacks but ALWAYS get hit by magical spells and effects, DOOM will hit a VANISHed target with 100% accuracy.
Even monsters who would normally be immune to instant death effects like DOOM are susceptible when VANISHed because:
"The way the Vanish status works is that it causes all physical attacks against the target to miss, but all magical attacks will ignore accuracy checks to always hit. However, the check for Vanish status happens before the check for instant death protection, so if the target has Vanish status, all other checks are skipped and its instant death protection is thus effectively nullified."
