V Jump Chrono Trigger Original Video Vジャンプクロノトリガー オリジナルビデオ 1995 Japanese Preview VHS 1080p 60fps
A VHS tape published by Shueisha in 1995 for V Jump Magazine that gives viewers a preview into the world of the upcoming "Dream RPG" project from Squaresoft, Chrono Trigger. It includes audio interviews with the three main men behind this project, Akira Toriyama, Yuji Horii and Hironobu Sakaguchi, as well as narrated comments from other prominent staff, such as Takashi Tokita, Yoshinori Kitase, Masanori Hoshino, Keizo Kokubo and Kazuhiko Aoki.
The showcase here really hits home for me. Chrono Trigger really was a dream project, the ultimate experience for RPG fans delivered by some of the greatest minds in the RPG development scene at the time...well, not just at the time, maybe of all time. I'm afraid we'll never see another project born from such talent and passion ever again, at least in video game form.
This video cassette was a "not for sale" release that I believe was sent to subscribers of the magazine who wished to receive it. It has an official runtime of 17 minutes. This particular tape has been uploaded to YouTube and other places online a thousand times before, so sorry (I guess) to clog the tubes, but here's another source in case the other 999 sources suddenly disappear!
This video was recorded on a Sharp VC-ES20B S-VHS deck using Sony S-video cables upscaled to 1080p 60fps via the Framemeister, captured using an Elgato HD60 S+.
