Valkyria Chronicles for PlayStation 3
1Hello and welcome to another PlayStation 3 exclusive sneak peek. This time I take a look at one of the most beautiful strategy games made this generation, Valkyria Chronicles.
As I promised everyone I finally got my hands on Valkyria Chronicles and decided to make it the Grand Finale video of 2009. I hope you like it.
In Valkyria Chronicles, As the heroic commander Welkin, you lead your small platoon to defend your country against the Empire's invading enemy forces. With Valkyria, a powerful ancient race in their ranks, the massive army must be defeated with elaborate strategic maneuvers and action-packed real-time combat.
The graphics are simply outstanding, with an awesome complete Anime look and feel. All the characters look awesome, and show great emotion through the struggles that they must fight. From the intro to the in-game play, the graphics feel like your playing in a Japanese Anime battlefield. I simply love the look of this game!
The music in Valkyria Chronicles is really, really good. Completely orchestrated music accompany this game from start to finish and it was done just right. Every scene in the game just sounds perfect with simple harmonic melody's playing in the background as you plan your strategic next move. In all honesty, the soundtrack IMO is nearly perfect.
The sound effects are typical for a strategy game with little sounds of gunfire and whatnot, but overall the sound effects are pretty much repetitive. Like in any strategy game. You will get used to hearing the same sounds time and time again.
The controls are exactly what you would expect from what you see in the video. Each player takes their turns walking a certain distance, shooting their weapon, and walking to another spot to end the turn. Simple turn based strategy. Overall the controls are good, but typical.
The only real complaint about this game that I have is no Trophy support. I mean really SEGA? This game came out 2 months before the Trophy additions were forced onto developers, but SEGA should have givin' it Trophy's still. This game deserves it!
Bottom Line: Valkyria Chronicles is beautiful and it sets the bar higher in the graphic dept. for strategy games. No other strategy game looks this awesome. SEGA just outdid themselves on this amazing game! If you like strategy games with great graphics, an amazing story, and awesome turn based gameplay then I would suggest going out and getting this remarkable game! It is just simply fantastic and will keep you busy for a very long time.
Valkyria Chronicles is (of coarse) Exclusive to the Sony PlayStation 3 Computer Entertainment System.
This game is in 720p native, has Dual Shock 3 Rumble support, and DTS 5.1Surround Sound (as well as uncompressed 7.1 PCM).
