Vigilante is the follow up to Kung Fu Master, and an early representative of the beat'em up genre. The PC Engine version is a very nice port. Sounds and looks fantastic... but boy, the enemy iframe are nothing short of ridiculous. That's late '80 gameplay for you. This is the japanese version, and as you can see from the text on screen there are several... politically unpolite choiches here and there.
I played this on a japanese Core Graphix, and with turbo on the controllers on. This helped me in trying to stunlock enemies (mainly bosses). The fact that the NEC PI-PD6 controller has turbo switch by default is a very nice touch.
As usual, this longplay use NO savestates. In my opinion, playing this way yield a footage more attuned to game and level design than save-state powered runs. When i feel like editing videos, i'll do a review, not a playthrough.
Pc Engine SD Hu-Card recorded on japanese Core Graphix , with Retrotink2x and Avermedia Live Mini. Played on CRT with original NEC Pi-Pd6 controller..
