If you remember back to my Virtua Fighter video I said I couldn't recommend it. This is why. In only a year did it take Sega to make Virtua Fighter go from a promising fighter to an exceptional must-play game.

But while it was believable enough that the original Virtua Fighter could of been ported to Sega Saturn there was some worry as to how the sequel could perform on the Saturn after it's original arcade showcase on the Model 2 hardware. The same kit used by Daytona USA, and remember, the Sega Saturn barely ran that game.

Fortunately AM2 had wisened up from their mistakes made with Daytona USA and this is arguably one of the finest arcade conversions of all time.The whole thing was done from the ground-up. The port did remove the 3D stages but made up for it by running at an amazingly high resolution of 720x525, which at the time was unmatchable by any other home console. This gave Virtua Fighter 2 a very sharp look. It also was stuck at 60FPS with absolutely flawless animation and bold colours.

Slap that onto a fighting system with very deep, debatably realistic combat, and you have yourself easily one of the best fighters of all time. Although surpassed by three subsequent sequels, Virtua Fighter 2 represents the peak of the VF series and I couldn't put anymore preassure as to why you should buy it. Stores have it for less than £5 now, go pick it up.
