Viva New Vegas Mod Guide... Guide (follow along to stabilize and remaster Fallout: New Vegas)
Link to QOLORE's amazing mod guide: https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/intro.html (keep in mind this guide is updated a LOT so no video tutorial will ever be perfectly accurate, which is why I kinda teach how to use the guide as a tutorial on modding as opposed to a black and white mod list where you follow every word to the letter)
This is a QUICK n DIRTY run through of the guide. I will be skipping some safety measures such as using multiple profiles in MO2, installing FNV on to a partitioned drive to avoid Windows conflicts, and connecting to the Nexus.
Ideally, you should follow the guide by the letter, but I just want to be honest with how I personally use the guide. It's quick. It's dirty. I skip some of those safety features and I skip some mods I simply don't utilize such as OneTweak (for windowed alt tabbing) and Console Paste (for using the console easier, but i almost never use the console).
If you are having issues, asking me or the reddit community is not a bad idea BUT ideally go straight to Qolore's discord for Viva New Vegas. Get answers from the source. Do yourself a favor. Have a successful load order and modded game run.
Do not use mod guides that use Vortex, or any mod manager that isn't MO2. Yes, even our beloved Gopher's guide. But definitely not Sinitar's. No. Anything but that. Does Vortex work? Yeah, kind of. Why is it bad? Because it installs directly to the game folder and doesn't handle conflicts and load order well. MO2 uses a virtual folder to run the mods through and has manual editing for mod conflicts and plugin load order.
I didn't want to make this video but it seems nobody ever did? For some reason there's just a bunch of reviews of the guide with varying degrees of clarity, which is cool, but really doesn't explain why or how the guide is so good... And there is only one other installation guide video and it uses some crazy shit I've never seen before that is supposed to all in one the entire guide... Which I don't recommend. Because you should learn how to mod effectively. Learn how to do this shit. Learn MO2 settings. Understand load order issues. Understand who should win or lose conflicts. Etcetera.
I might do a full modded game load order video if people want that. As I definitely don't play base Viva New Vegas with no gameplay/texture mods. Check out my back catalog of FNV videos for inspiration of what mods to use :)
