Heres a look at my new screencaster of choice in Linux Vokoscreen. Its available for Ubuntu, Mint, Zorin, Debian and OpenSUSE.
I've used it in Ubuntu 12.04 and 13.04 and found it produces some lovely high quality recordings (which you can see in my recent videos).

Install instructions:
Ubuntu, Mint, Zorin:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vokoscreen-dev/vokoscreen
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vokoscreen

Debian / OpenSUSE
Download zip file from website: http://www.kohaupt-online.de
Extract and then Install the appropriate package for your system
