Cebas Visual Technology releases TP 6.5 this April 2017.
More powerful operators and helpers for enhanced workflow and production in visual effects. Drop 5 news @ http://cebas.com/news
In this video, Edwin Braun shows the latest enhancement for VB clusters and how to use it.
New! functionality to volumeBreaker : 'clustering'.
- a lot more useful controls to create clusters our of fragments.
- artists can now define how clustering or fragmentation should happen.
0:42 - First Setup of Scene
- Object = plane : feed into VB and VB breaks it into chunks/fragments.
1:06 - Clustering
- menu the right: clustering rollout takes care of all functions :
- Clustering: 'show' allow you to see on display how the fragments/clusters are arranged. Fragments are in dark colors and clusters in lighter colors.
- NEW! parameter: 'Mode': select 'from activation', that is, clustering on-the-fly based on impacting object value of CSize. Activate Helper (top of menu) This fine-tune option allows you to easily control the size of the clustering.
2:48 - 2nd method: TextureMap (*1) to define the clusters
- in this scene, Edwin will use the 'TiltMap' feature in VB to define the clusters
- this time the Mode is on 'Pre-Clustering' (NEW!) this gives you the look of the clusters you're creating,
- Tilt Map is feature on Clustering menu and uses a standard map; any kind of texture can be used here,
- there is a 'Gradient Ramp Parameters' that goes from black to white for refining the shade you desire,
3:55 - New! 'Tilt Threshold' is like a bump map and defines how the clusters will be created, such as change in intensity of the cluster mapping,
- so, whenever the change is bigger than a selected 'Tilt Threshold' a cluster is created. This allows for all kinds of variation on the same texture map so the smaller the threshold value, the more clusters we will get, and the more steps we will catch in the texture map,
- this scene shows a very fine differentiation in the intensity value - a powerful feature.
4:50 - 'Point Cloud' : another new powerful feature (shown placed at the centre of this sim )
- Point Cloud can be used to define the clustering,
- a very unique feature that allows you to control clustering / fragmentation using another object,
5:27 - how-to: bring in a plane, VBreak the plane, H SurfacePos and Position Born: particles is created on the surface of the torus object, which here acts as the cluster 'cloud',
5:51 - At the end of the VB-Clustering menu, we see the Cluster Cloud controls: use particles (PGroup) to define the clustering: pick from PGroup: Cluster Cloud in this sim and define the distances to the vertices or particles to affect the clustering,
- turn off the torus for a moment and see how this looks like..
6:28 Merge Overlapped option (New! )
- a very powerful feature when turned on : this sim shows the clustering just where the vertices or particles are, and with Merge Overlapped, all touching fragments will become one big cluster.
7:03 - you can also change the parameters - radius / rotation / twist of the object to modify the object and how it affects the clustering of the breakage! Powerful feature: so you control the minimum size of the object and after fragmentation, you can still control and sculpt your fragments flexibly.
- similarly, as we have the Volume position, we can reduce the amount of particles etc and use instance, just like changing the original geometry.
Thank you for taking the time to review this new TP 6.5 VB Clustering, check our next Drop 5 ShapeNoise next! @ https://youtu.be/dL9kJtnPdwQ
*1 TextureMap offers the feature to "paint" multiple texture maps in one go. This is achieved by adding multiple texture maps to a list box and by invoking the PaintOperator to call each texture map, based on a collision event.
