Cebas Visual Technology releases TP 6.5 this April 2017.
More powerful operators and helpers for enhanced workflow and production in visual effects. Drop 5 news @ http://cebas.com/news
In this video, Edwin Braun shows the amazing effects with ShapeNoise (New!) and how to use it.
- this scene shows VBreaking of a cube: check out the cut edges and they are flat like a crystal breaking, a normal effect with VolumeBreaker;
- however, now you can rough up those edges and areas where the cube has fragmented, which makes the fragments more realistic and this is what ShapeNoise is about:
0:50 - Setup
- You got the usual ObjToParticles - VB - ShapeNoise : setup the VB for the breaking you desire;
- NEW options have been added to TP6.5 ShapeNoise:
1:26 - Tesselation has been enhanced in Drop 5:
- now the surface is a more even distribution of triangles that can be further roughen up by increasing the tesselation FX,
- also, you can tesselate independently the remaining surfaces of the fragments : amazing control over all your particle surfaces,
2:29 - 'Noise'
- add some noise with the cellular map: e.g. higher tesseletion gives you more details and distortion,
- now the surfaces of the fragmented areas are less crystal-like and flat but there is more noise and roughness in them,
3:14 Texture Map
- Map (Cellular) : creates rough surfaces: adjust size and fractals etc
3:42 - FallOff feature (edges of the fragments)
- this give more realism to whatever material fragmentation you are effecting: edges can be either clean or adjust Falloff Radius value: try 0.06 m value or 0.01 (realistic distortion) ; 0.1 will give a nice distance from the edge,
- edges stay straight and undistorted : great tool for explosion VFX where the fragmented edges has to stay closed.
4:43 - ShapeNoise Operator for Drop 5
- external own operator so it can be assigned to any TP particle group
- see dynaSet : apply ShapeNoise to any kind of particle shapes
5:26 - Scene example
- shows a ShapeNoise 'Relative Boundingbox' effects, that means a displacement 'noise' is scaled to the size of the object;
- the other option is 'Absolute World' - enter the value you want for the displacement and irregardless of what size your object(s) are, the displacement value remains the same; so no longer dependent on the boundaries.
6:20 - ShapeNoise 'Random Shift': particle-own distortion
- particles system simple setup with PBorn and Std Shape
- using ShapeNoise : every sphere has a different, own displaced noise!
- No two particles in Random Shift effects will look the same with increasing the RS value!
