VRGD Live - Playing The Lambda1 VR Total Half Life Conversion Mod In The Meta Quest 2
17Tonight I am literally going full circle back to where my love of home based virtual reality began... tonight I will be riding the tram into the Black Mesa facility in virtual realuty again and I am so excited for this. Back in the late 90's I cobbled together an old I-Glasses system with an ultrasonic headtracker and the Iz3d drivers, which was the VORPX of its day so to speak, and I played the original Half life in what we called VR back then. In retrospect compared to what we have today it was a horrible experience... with a 640 x 480 display and latency in the 100's of miliseconds it would have seemd unplayable to todays standards but damned if I didn't suffer through it and for a brief moment back in the day I was Gordon Freeman!
So flash forward to today and now we can play this game in Proper VR thanks to Dr Beef and team! I was blown away to find this over on Sidequest and for the price of just the original Half Life game, which is beyond cheap these days BTW, I am now able to play this again the way I always had imagined it would be.. In full roomscale VR!
