Marineverse Cup In The Meta Quest 2 Has Native Yaw VR Motion Simulator Support!
18Today I am checking out the recently released marineverse cup for The Meta Quest 2. I have to say, I was extremely happy to see that the developers have decided to add native y'all VR support! This now makes 3 titles for the Meta Quest 2 that support the simulator directly from the headset.
As for the game itself, I found Marineverse Cup to be great and I can totally see where you could really learn to sail a boat by using this game. The graphics looked good and the gameplay was nice and smooth which made for an enjoyable experience and I found the "Free Sail" mode in the Sydney Harbor to be very relaxing
I will say however that I was slightly disappointed with the amount of motion that was felt from the Yaw simulator in Marineverse Cup. Honestly though, I didn't know what to expect since I mostly play flying and driving games in my Yaw VR. Now don't get me wrong, even the slightest amount of motion truly enhances any VR experience and feeling the boat rock back and forth definitely got me to a deeper level of immersion than I would have playing this normally.
In this game I did also find the lack of any rotation from the simulator to be slightly immersion breaking and I would have very much like to have felt that sensation of yaw rotations as the boat turned.
Overall, this was still a very enjoyable experience and I will definitely be jumping back in to see more of this game in the future.. Playing it in the Yaw VR definitely added to the immersion a bit and honestly just the sensation of sitting in the bowl of the Yaw matching up with the on-screen visual of sitting in the dinghy was enough to take this one over the top for me with any additional movements just adding to the fun factor!
