0Somewhat ironically, it's only after having experienced the sprawling chaos and epic tactical warfare of Battlefield 3 that I've begun to appreciate the incentive-rich, painstakingly fine-tuned risk/reward balance of a more arcade-oriented shooter like CODBLOPS. Despite sharing the same familiar theme of contemporary conflict and ostensibly competing over the same audience (...or so EA likes to believe), DICE and Infinity Ward/Treyarch both offer distinct online FPS experiences which in many ways couldn't be more different from what the other developer is delivering. There's room for both on the market, though it would sure be nice if the very specific design decisions of these giants of the genre (and their respective publishers in particular) wouldn't influence the rest of the shooter world quite as much as they currently do...
