War Thunder historical battles. The joys of the stick (which I didn't have many in this one :P)
I'm a resourceful guy. Pretty much so. When he was a puppy, Thor, my little devil/son of satan/dog (mix of braco and german shepherd so not exactly little XD) gave a go at his teeth with my TrackIR cord and chopped it off.
As I said I'm a resourceful guy and I'm not splashing a couple hundred bucks in a new set+shipment costs...so instead I did a little engineering and plugged both parts of the cord. TrackIR works now.
So...I gave it a go to an HB with joystick. Not my X52 HOTAS (that'll come later) but my old logitech extreme 3D, plus the CH rudder pedals. First time in maybe 24 months I actually plugged a working flight gear on the computer.
I've bassically tinkered with nothing at all in my control setup, other than using advanced (no flight instructor) and setting the joystick axis to the proper ones, couple key bindings and up I went in the Fw190A5. It's a whole new game and I'm rusty as hell, for the first half of the game I was pretty much struggling to get used to the controls and with the bounciness of the joystick (if anyone knows a good sensitivity setup for the 3D extreme, I'll be thankful), not to mention that I have to get used to trackIR again.
No kills in the end, just an arty straffed, but I think I didn't fly all that bad and put some shots on a beaufighter and Spitfire. Now I need a proper joystick workable settings to get rid of the bounciness as much as I can, get used to trackIR again, shake all the goddamned rust I've got on me after maybe 2 years and a half of not flying fixed wing simulators (last FS I flew was Black Shark, and that's about choppers...) and I guess I'll be able to do something worth mention.
In the meantime I suck. Kinda. But I love to have full control of my plane again. It's a sensation mouse aim will never give you.
