WedSNESday: Let's Play Disney's Aladdin (SNES)
In this week's WedSNESday, Matt & Luke don their parachute pants and grab an apple or two and head to Agrabah to experience one of the most celebrated Disney licensed platformers, Disney's Aladdin. Luke is behind the controller today, controlling the eponymous Aladdin as he makes his way through the city streets, grabbing apples, bread and some good ol' fashioned barrel meat, in hopes to go from rags to riches through a few well-worded wishes.
Aladdin was one of the many Disney-licensed platformers created by Capcom for the 8-bit and 16-bit era. Based on the animated film of the same name, it was released for the Super Nintendo in 1993. Designed by Shinji Mikami, creator of Resident Evil, and current CEO of Tango Gameworks, creating The Evil Within with Grasshopper Manufacture and Zenimax Media Inc. The SNES Aladdin differs from the Genesis version created by Virgin Interactive in many ways, with less focus on swordplay and more "advanced" platform navigation, reminiscent of the Prince of Persia games of the same era.
WedSNESday is the Level 0 NPCs weekly series where we play one older game for one episode, just to relive the nostalgia and maybe make your hump day just a little bit more fun.
