WedSNESday: Let's Play Metal Warriors
Matt & Luke get ready for some legitimate War among the Stars in the Lucasarts SNES masterpiece, Metal Warriors. The NPCs tromp around in a big red mech, blowing the ever-loving bajeezus out of tiny men with annoying grenades and swing around the world's biggest lightsaber (Because let's be honest, this is a Lucasarts game, it gets to be a lightsaber).
Metal Warriors was developed in 1995 by Lucasarts and published by Konami in a rare collaboration with Japanese action game powerhouse Konami, to create a distinctly Japanese styled mech game that was surprisingly only ever released in North America. The player takes the role of a pilot in the Freedom fighting militia known as the Metal Warriors trying to reclaim Earth from Dark Axis, led by the evil Venkar Amon. The player can pilot multiple mechs, even hopping out to travel around on tiny human foot to climb into a new one at will.
WedSNESday is the Level 0 NPCs weekly series where we play one older game for one episode, just to relive the nostalgia and maybe make your hump day just a little bit more fun.
