Portal is a 3D first-person puzzle game created by Kim Swift and Valve Software, based on the indie puzzler Narbacular Drop. In Portal, as opposed to most FPS games, the player's only "weapon" is a gun that opens portals from one flat surface to another. This award-winning classic is considered one of the greatest puzzle games of all time, and helped to drive sales of The Orange Box, a package of games containing Portal, Team Fortress and Half Life 2, in the early days of Steam, arguably contributing in a meaningful way to the "revival" of PC gaming - which was thought close to its death when it was released.
