WedSNESday: Let's Play Sonic Blast Man (SNES)
This week on WedSNESday, Matt & Luke get ready to beat the living hell out of some baddies superhero style with the obscure SNES hidden gem, "Sonic Blast Man". Luke reminisces about his experiences in Japan and playing the Sonic Blast Man "Test your strength" machine, and also gets into an impromptu lesson about Japanese Onomatopoeia and some of the most creative soundsmiths in Japanese cartoon history.
Sonic Blast Man is the first game in a series of games, originally starting as a "Test Your Strength" style arcade game, feature the titular hero destroying muggers, trains, buildings, giant crabs and even an asteroid headed straight for the Earth. Released in 1990 for the SNES by Taito, it abandoned the gameplay of its arcade version, and switched over to a much more industry standard side-scrolling beat 'em up in the vein of Final Fight.
