Serious Sunday: Pay What You Want - Honey Rose's unconventional Steam pricing workaround
4This week, on Serious Sunday, Luke looks at the case of Honey Rose: Underdog Fighter Extraordinaire, a new game testing the waters of Steam's monetization policies by creating a de-facto "Pay what you want" pricing model through clever usage of DLC. Though not unique in game industry pricing models, with itch.io leading the charge on variable payment plans, Honey Rose breaks ground on Steam by releasing on Steam as a Free title and creating pay tier surrogate DLC, letting the player decide when and how much to pay.
