Week 2 Day 1 - Advanced Materials
Today we talked briefly about Rocksmith, and how games can be used to teach legitimate stuff in education.
We then moved on to our second lecture on materials. Today we talked about:
1) Using texture coordinate nodes to change the scaling of a texture
2) Using add, multiply, subtract and LERP with texture nodes to composite different things together
3) Using parameters to make changeable values in a material.
4) Once you've made a material with parameters, you can right click and choose "Create Material Instance" to make a new version of that material whose values you can edit and see reflected in the world in real time.
We then did a bit with landscaping - switch into Landscape mode from the modes button, create a landscape (choose a grass material or something), and then use the sculpt tool to make hills and mountains.
