In 2010’s Predators, the third mainline Predator movie, as the group discover the hunter camp, they come across a Classic style Yautja who has been taken prisoner, and crucified to a totem.
He is known both as the Crucified Predator, or the Classic Predator.
As the protagonists are attacked by the Super Predators, they all flee, leaving the Crucified Predator behind.
But, as they meet another Human, who’s been surviving for years, and claims to have killed at least 2 Predators himself; they are told by him, that they have a ship close to the camp, and Royce comes up with a plan to steal it, and free the Crucified Yautja, so he can fly them all back to Earth.
Royce cuts him down, and the Yautja understands what he wants, but the Super Predator shows up again.
Classic sets the ship to take off, allowing Royce to escape, while Classic fights off the Super Predator.
Unfortunately however, the Super Predator defeats the Crucified Predator, and sets the ship to self-destruct.
Luckily though, in the end, Royce didn’t board the ship, and instead went back for the others; defeating the Super Predator in the end, but remained stranded along with Isabelle, the only other survivor of the group.
The Crucified Predator was designed to resemble the Predator from the first film, known to fans as the “Jungle Hunter” to pay homage to the original, and the two look very similar.
If you haven’t watched it yet, I have a previous video going into the backstory of the Crucified Predator, and how he was captured by the Super Predators in the motion comic; you can find it now in the card on screen; or, if you watch this one all the way to the end, I’ll have it there as well.
So now I’ve brought you all up to speed on who the Crucified Predator was; let’s try to imagine what would have happened if Royce’s plan went as expected, and the Classic Predator wasn’t killed.
So, in this version of events, it is Classic who kills Berserker, ending the Super Predator threat, and the group are no longer in immediate danger.
At this point in the film, the only Humans left are Royce and Isabelle, as well as Edwin, the character who was a Doctor back on Earth, but also secretly a psychotic mass-murderer.
So, what would happen with him? Would he try to attack Isabelle and Royce, or even the Predator to prevent them from escaping, or may he even try to sabotage the ship? He did say he wanted to stay at the planet.
Well, Immediately after the Predator fight is over, Edwin reveals his intentions to Isabelle, and has used the toxin from a poisonous plant to temporarily paralyse her. So by this point she would still know what he was planning to do. It is Royce who also figures out what he’s up to, and uses his own weapon against him.
This part would remain unchanged, as the outcome of the fight doesn’t affect Royce turning back and finding out Edwin was going to attack them both; so Edwin would be killed by Royce in the same way, leaving Royce, Isabelle, and the Classic Predator as the survivors.
Since Berserker blows the ship after beating Classic, it would still be intact and on its way to Earth.
As Classic was able to pilot it remotely, it’s likely he would be able to call it back, and have it return to the planet.
There it would pick them up, and they would all be on the ship heading for Earth, where it would drop off the two Humans; I think the Predator would make good on the deal with Royce, as he was an honourable Predator, so I feel he’d hold up his end of the bargain.
But this wasn’t how the movie actually ended, and the Classic Predator died, and Royce and Isabelle were stranded on the planet.
Although Royce did do the decent thing eventually, and went back for the others, him making his way to the ship might be
what doomed them to be stranded, as if he had instead helped Classic fight Berserker, the two working together against the Super Predator probably would have won, and this theory could have happened.
If Royce did help Classic, then maybe he would have given him a clan-mark for fighting with him like Scar did with Lex in AVP, but with Super Predator blood,
kinda like how Naru had the blood over her face at the end of Prey.
It is interesting to think about.
Like the motion comic story I mentioned earlier about what happened before Predators, there actually exists a comic which shows what happens after the movie.
A topic for a future video perhaps… Let me know if you’d like to see me cover it.
As always, remember to give the video a like for the time and effort I put into making it.
And I also want to say thanks to everyone who watches, likes the videos, became a member, and has subscribed, as we have just passed another thousand subscribers, and I couldn’t be happier with how the channel has grown recently thanks to all of your support.
Take care, and I’ll see you all next time.
