What NES OR FAMICOM Video Game Series Do You Have Complete Sets Of?
Over the years, there have been some amazing video game franchises I have fallen in love with that I have played the entire series of. Series such as Contra, The Legend of Zelda, Tiny Toon Adventures, and others are all fantastic on the system, and some I do have all of the games. Some of these franchises only have 2 titles however, which makes it easier to do, but what NES or Famicom series have you collected a complete set of a series over the years? Let's take a look at a few complete, and 1 complete-ish set I have.
Adventure Island 1 - 3
"dventure Island on the NES is a classic set of side-scrolling platform games, centered around Master Higgins. Power-ups, such as stone axes and fireballs, enhance Higgins's offensive capabilities. Eggs are very important, they contain many power ups. Where the original game established the core gameplay mechanics, Adventure Island II introduced dinosaur companions that provided Higgins with various abilities, adding a new layer of gameplay. In Adventure Island III it further expanded upon the dinosaur companions, adding more variety.
Rock Man 1 - 6
In the USA we know Rock Man as Mega Man, Capcom's blue bomber created by Dr. Light. While Mega Man 2 and 3 are the most loved in the series, all the games are fantastic. That is one of the major reasons why the NES cartridges have become so expensive in recent years. To fight that, I wound up collecting the entire set on the Famicom, which was a lot less expensive for the same games!
Castlevania 1 - 3
Akumajō Dracula (悪魔城ドラキュラ) 1 - 2 Famicom Disk System
We all know how great Castlevania is on the NES, and it's a fairly inexpensive series to complete. The real fun for me was getting some of the Akumajō Dracula (悪魔城ドラキュラ) Famicom Disk System Games with their enhanced audio. Akumajō Dracula (悪魔城ドラキュラ) 3 was only released on a cartridge which lacks enhanced audio, which is why I count having 1 and 2 on FDS as complete!
Super Mario Bros
This is fun for me as I have a complete set on both the NES and the Famicom, although I am missing just plain Super Mario Bros on NES. This is kind of a must-have for gamers, am I right? I mean if you don't have these, and you have an NE,S are you even allowed to own that NES? These are some of the finest games ever produced, and I am glad that I have a few that are CIB and even have a loose Left Bros cart.
What classic retro series do you have every game for the NES or Famicom? What ones would you want? Let me know in the comments!!
