The year 2025 will mark a tremendous occasion as it is the 40th anniversary of the founding of RARE Games. Originally one of the best developers for Nintendo, creating amazing titles for the original Nintendo Entertainment System, the Super NES, Nintendo 64, GameCube, and Game Boy, it was a guaranteed banger if it had that RARE logo on the game. To mark the occasion of their anniversary, RARE, Microsoft (the current owners of RARE), and Retro-bit Publishing are bringing 2 classic games back. We’re talking about 2 of my personal favorites, Battletoads & Double Dragon on the original Game Boy, along with RC Pro-Am 2 Returning For the NES. Let’s Play some of RC-Pro AM 2 and take a closer look.

Preorders are open now until mid-April 2025. You can preorder from Castlemania Games at the links below:

Battletoads & Double Dragon:
MSRP $44.99 USD | $69.99 CAD | €49,99EUR
The Ultimate Team Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team was released in December 1993 and developed by Rare with licensing from Technōs Japan. It had ports across various consoles, and it was the first title in the series where all three of the Battletoads were playable from the start. Surprisingly, most of the content was kept intact for the Game Boy® version.

The developers did their best to bring this awesome beat ‘em up to the portable console with very few limitations.

●Enemies are limited to two on-screen max
●Many attack animations have been simplified
●Environments on stages have been reduced
●Bosses will have different attack sequences
●It is a single-player game only

With such an action-packed title on the Game Boy, its popularity over the years has grown with new, sealed copies commanding prices up to $3,000. It’s steady rise is a not only a testament to its rarity but also it’s timeless appeal as one of the few beat ‘em ups on the console that plays great on the go. It is our pleasure to provide new fans and veterans a chance to own their own official copy.

RC Pro Am 2: $59.99 USD | $89.99 CAD | €69,99EUR
Welcome to the world of radio-controlled racing! The team at Rare Ltd. brought even more challenging tracks with more speed and tougher opponents in its second entry. Add in a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th player to truly experience some of the best racing multiplayer games of its generation. You’ll have weapons at your disposal and vehicle upgrades available to help you throughout the 24 tracks spread out across race tracks, city scapes, and off-road dirt tracks.

Luxury RacingR.C. Pro-Am II stood out amongst other racers and games on the NES with it being considered one of the best games on the console. On top of being a great game, it was one of the handful of games that supported up to four players. It’s limited distribution towards the end of the console’s lifespan also meant it was hard to find even years after its release.

●Numbered deluxe hardcover cartridge box
●Asphalt (NTSC-U) or Raceway (PAL) R.C. Pro-Am II 8-Bit cartridge
●Detailed instruction manual
●Exclusive acrylic cartridge display stand
●Holographic commemorative stickers

Disclaimer: This release has two versions to support region compatibility for NTSC and PAL consoles separately - Please purchase according to your preference

Are you a fan of either of these games? Did you ever, or do you currently, own the originals? I am super geeked to see Retro-bit Publishing able to Celebrate RARE's Birthday with these awesome collector's releases. Let me know if you plan on picking them up in the comments!
