Where have all the heroes gone? (Masters of the Universe Revelation Episode 3 Review)
This show likes to pretend it's progressive but ironically it fails to live up to the Filmation series in that regard. While Evil-lyn and Teela were originally strong and capable threats in their own right, here they're reduced to being totally hung up on boys. Evil-lyn apparently has no drive or motivation outside of her infatuation with Skeletor and is now trying to come into her own as a strong, independent woman despite the fact that she was always portrayed as underhanded and only sticking with Skeletor for her own benefit. How empowering. Weirdly enough, Beast Man also loses his agency and is instead portrayed as Evil-lyns guard dog who's totally devoted to her. Not sure where that came from. It's obvious these writers are trying to compensate for something that wasn't actually present in the original series, they're just to unfamiliar with the source material to know that; which is disappointing.
