Where is the DaVinci Resolve projects folder on a Mac
10This video shows you how to find the projects folder for DaVinci Resolve on a Mac and how to copy the folder to make a safety backup copy to an external drive that you can use in case of system failure or corruption in the future. For this I am using DaVinci Resolve Studio on an M4 Max MacBook Pro, which is an Apple Silicon Mac. However, this guide should also work for the DaVinci Resolve Free and X86 Apple Mac computers.
Don't forget, any data saved at this point is only relevant to where your projects were up to at the point of the save and backup. So if you have to restore any of the project data it will only include projects and certain other data up to the point of the backup and nothing after that point. I usually backup my projects folder once a week, if I can remember 🤣
There are other ways of backing up project data from within Resolve itself but I just like to copy the entire folder wholesale, as I find this easier and quicker. Also, backing up your projects data folder is only backing up the projects and sequences sequence data. It does not backup your media. This is why you should store your media external to the Mac's internal storage. So if you do run into issues with your Mac's drive or have any corruption etc. With the internal drive, or Resolve. You will have a restore point up to the point that you saved the projects folder. When restoring the backup project data it will relink to the media files, as long as their locations don't change.
