This game needs thick lines, you can see it in the sound settings menu where the horizontal volume level bars have horizontal gaps in them.
This also means there's no gap between the rear-view mirror and its outline and the track map is a lot thicker.
Secondly V_FIFO_TRIFILL is giving me grief again. This time relating to colour. This appears to be a bit blit operation on real hardware, i.e. a pixel copy fill with a solid colour and the colour isn't necessary a 32 bit ARGB value. It's in whatever format the render target is in, which in this case is RGB565, which means the the lower 16 bit values of 32 bit ARGB colour (G and B) need to be treated as an RGB565 value).
